V : Pilot Episode on ABC
Nov 3rd
I watch very few television shows religiously. Sundays are “Animation Station” night with The Cleveland Show, Family Guy and American Dad. On Mondays, I have my Big Bang Theory ,How I Met Your Mother, Accidentally On Purpose, House, Trauma and CSI Miami. On Wednesday nights I have to watch Criminal Minds, Mercy and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Other than that, I’ll pretty much watch whatever is on. I’m also really OCD about having to be up to date on my tv shows. I started watch Flash Forward and I missed the second episode. I had it DVR-d but by the time I had a moment to watch it, the third episode had already come and went. I really hate that.

So with that being said, ABC had a new pilot on tonight that I was hoping would fill my Tuesday void. “V” is a sci-fi show about an alien race, that appears human, visiting Earth and offering “peace”. In exchange for the use of Earth’s resources, the aliens say that they will offer cures to 60+ medical conditions and new technologies. Similar to Lost, it is a bunch of mini stories wrapped into one big story. There is a reporter who is willing to say anything the aliens tell him to on national television to further his career, an FBI agent who dwells on her husband recently leaving and her distant from her son, the son who has abandonment issues due to his father leaving, an “alien” guy who is struggling over his past and his future ( he is getting engaged), a priest questioning the visitors reasons for being brought to Earth, etc. At the end of the pilot you learn that the visitors have inhabited the planet for quite some time with other motives than peace, that the visitors are really reptile aliens dressed as humans, there is a resistance against the aliens, and that some of the main characters of the show are actual reptile alien “traitors”. Its kind of confusing and definitely weird.
All in all I was really disappointed in this “pilot” episode for V. I feel like there is so much more they could have put into this episode and saved a lot of the not as exciting plot twists for later in the season. I’m willing to give it a second try and watch next week’s episode but if that episode doesn’t catch my interest then I’m gonna need to watch for other new premieres.
Anyone have any good Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday filler shows?
