Dear France

hatCould I please borrow one of your Grandmothers to knit me a hat? Everyone loves a warm fitted hat during the cold wintry months!

The concept developed by Golden Hook is simple. You can custom design your own winter hat on their site and they will create and send it to you. The entire process is customizable.

- You choose the style.
- You choose the fabric.
- You choose all the colors.
- You choose the GRANDMA. That’s right. I said the Grandma.

Golden Hook provides you with an online tool to customize your hat and then gives your photos and descriptions of all of their knitters, all older grandmothers, to choose who you would like to knit your hat.  The hats start at about $60 ( FYI: the site prices in Euros) and the shipping differs depending on where abouts they are sending the hat (they are sending them from France after all).

USB Jewelry Collection

jewelryHave you ever found yourself in the middle of a coffee shop searching for your flash drive? Look no further than your wrist!

I’ve seen alot of items with a USB twist.
Whether it be USB drives that look like humping dogs, USB fans, USB chargers, USB belts, etc there are tons of items to choose from.

The USB jewelry lines are awesome.
Many jewelry designers have tapped into the geek chic market and added USB devices to different styles of jewelry.bracelet
Necklaces, cuff links, bracelets..I’m waiting for someone to invent  USB earrings, now that would be a feat. USB jewelry is fully functional as a high fashion piece or a modern tool!!

While the more designer sterling silver bracelets and necklaces are not currently available in stores, I did find some nice examples of USB watches on ThinkGeek here.

Megabyte has an adorable pumpkin costume somewhere in the attic that is perfect for the occasion.

Save A Life: Crystal Aspirin Packs

PLEASE NOTE: Always consult with a physician before beginning an aspirin regimen or in an emergent situation.

bayerHeart health related conditions are the #1 leading cause of death in the world.
Bayer has developed a new form of aspirin, quick dissolving crystals.
It is a good idea to keep some of these packs handy in or on your bedside table.

Note: There are other symptoms of a heart attack, other than pain in the left arm and chest pain. You may experience no chest pain at all. You can also experience intense pain in your chin, nausea and sweating. These symptoms are less frequent, but  could help you realize that you may be having a heart attack.

About 60% of people who suffered a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. <

If chest pain may wakes you up from a deep sleep you should immediately dissolve the recommended dose of aspirin crystals or two aspirin tablets in your mouth.

Then quickly phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by and tell them you may be experiencing a heart attack, let them know that you have taken 2 aspirin and then take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and… DO NOT LIE DOWN!!

I hope this valuable information helps us save a few lives!

Charleston BarCamp

CHARLESTON BARCAMP 2009 GROUP PHOTO

@oubipaws and I headed down to Charleston on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 to partake in a BarCamp “unconference” in Charleston. It was an extremely educational geek gathering.
With limited slots available (250 in all) it was a great event for techies and non-techies alike.

The Sessions We Attended:

#1:“iPhone in Your Face” brought to you by @mbgeek was a session about programming for the iPhone and submitting your app to the App Store.
#2:“Amazon Cloud Computing” was lots of information on how to use Amazon for your cloud server needs. In this session I learned that cloud computing is way too complicated for me, but @oubipaws thoroughly enjoyed racking his brain.
#3:“Ruby On Rails using git” brought to you by @JebSchneider was a great session and one of our faves of the day.
#4:“Asp.NET MVC Bing API” brought to you by @kodefuguru was a session about using the bing API, flickr API and programming Asp.Net. Even after learning about the new twist on Asp.NET I still prefer all other programming languages first, and I can safely say that I will always prefer Google’s API.
#5:“Drupal” brought to you by @exposur3 was very interesting to me because I had never had any experience learning about Drupal. After I heard all about it, I still prefer Wordpress as my CMS but I wouldn’t mind playing around with Drupal in the future.
#6: We had every intention of heading to “BaconCamp” (lol) but we were so exhausted that we decided to head home a little early.

All in all we had a fantastic time in Charleston and we are looking forward to next year!!!
